About Standard Schnauzers
Standard Schnauzers were originally bred in Germany to be guard dogs, ratters, and farm dogs. They are a handsome, robust, and sturdy built dog with a dense, harsh no-shed coat. Standard Schnauzers weight between 35 to 45 pounds. The males are 18-20 inches in height at the shoulders and females are 17-19 inches at the shoulders. They come in pepper and salt or black for color.
The Standard Schnauzer has a spirited temperament and are excellent with children and friends. They learn quickly and excel in obedience and agility. They need a firm hand and will get away with anything they can and soon rule the house, if allowed. Overall, their medium size, loving and protective nature make them excellent family dogs.
